ANNOUNCING AN INAUGURAL SURVEY TO DETERMINE THE DEMOGRAPHIC MAKEUP OF THE GOVERNMENT RELATIONS FIELD
Washington, DC – Today, the Diversity in Government Relations (DGR) Coalition launches the government relations industry’s first comprehensive workplace survey.
The inaugural Diversity & Inclusion in Government Relations Survey intends to study the level of diversity and inclusion within the government relations field by gathering anonymous self-reported information from individual employees that work directly or indirectly to influence local, state, and federal policy.
Collecting and reporting on diversity among race/ethnicity, gender, political affiliation, disability, sexual orientation, religion, and other areas of difference will be useful for corporations, non-profit organizations, lobbying firms, law firms, associations, trades, and policymakers to better understand the current state of their organizational and policymaking apparatus to ensure it reflects and represents the growing diversity of the nation.
“Diversity and inclusion performance in government relations is integral to advancing policies that reflect diverse perspectives throughout the private and public sectors,” said Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, Chair of the Financial Services Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee. “Thanks to the Diversity in Government Relations Coalition for their creative efforts to measure the important aspects of diversity and inclusion within the government relations field.”
Our changing and evolving society dictates that our nation’s policies meet the unique needs of all citizens. The Diversity & Inclusion in Government Relations Survey will not only provide a current view of the industry, but will also inform the steps needed to improve the industry’s future state.
The DGR Coalition will use the data to recommend solutions and put forth evidence-based best practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the field.
The results of the survey will be shared in a published report this winter.
The survey should take about 8 minutes to complete and can be found here.
